Methodology
The review step is the product. A stale or invented price is worse than a blank cell.
What gets a number
- Each tool is one YAML file. Each plan has price, limits, a source URL, last_verified, and verified_by.
- Prices are stored in the currency the vendor page showed. A page that showed only EUR is stored as EUR and is not converted to USD.
- Status verified means the core public prices were on the vendor page.
- Status needs_review means the vendor page was read and the figures are published with a warning, because something about them conflicts or was ambiguous.
- Status partial or unverified renders an awaiting-verification state and is noindex. Dollar amounts that were not tied to a plan name are not turned into prices.
Indexing
- Tool, pricing, and limits pages index when status is verified or needs_review and last_verified is within 14 days.
- Older than 14 days: the page still shows the old figures, with a stale banner, and is noindex. That flip happens at build time.
- Compare pages index only for demand pairs where both tools are indexable.
- Best lists index once at least five tools match the rule.
- MCP server pages are generated only for tested: true.
Refresh
scripts/refresh-pricing.mjs and .github/workflows/pricing-refresh.yml fetch one pricing URL per tool, hash normalised text, and write reports/needs-review-*.md on change. They do not edit data/tools. Vendor terms for automated access were not reviewed; do not enable the schedule until they are.
When is a price published?
Only after it is read on the vendor’s own pricing or docs page. The plan row stores the source URL, last_verified, and verified_by. Missing prices stay null.
When is a page noindex?
Tool, pricing, and limits pages are noindex when core pricing is unverified or partial, and when the last check is more than 14 days old. Compare pages also need both tools to be fresh and the pair to be a demand pair. Best lists need at least five qualifying tools.
Does the daily job change prices?
No. It fetches each pricing URL, hashes the normalised text, and writes a needs-review report when the hash changes. A person edits the YAML.
Open questions for a human
- Claude Max 20× price. The 17 Oct 2026 check confirmed Pro at US$20 monthly or US$17 annual, Team Standard at US$25/$20, Team Premium at US$125/$100, and Enterprise at US$20 per seat per month billed annually with a 20-seat minimum. Max is from US$100. The compare table lists Max 20× and does not show a subscription price. The $200 figure is API credits. That row stays empty and Claude stays flagged.
- v0 Plus price. On 17 Oct 2026 the Plus card showed both $30 and $90 next to /user/month. It looks like a switch or strikethrough, and the current price is not clear. Plus includes $30 of monthly credits per user plus $2 a day. Free is $0 with $5 of one-time credits and 7 messages a day. Business is $100 per user. The FAQ says Ultra was sunset and its users moved to Premium. Do not pick $30 or $90.
- Tabnine public pricing. tabnine.com/pricing redirects to a Tricentis contact page. Tabnine is now part of Tricentis. No public price could be verified. The row is marked contact sales and the tool stays flagged.
- JetBrains monthly pricing. The individual yearly view at jetbrains.com/store/ai shows AI Free (3 credits/month), AI Pro at €100 per user per year excluding VAT (10 credits/month), and AI Ultimate at €300 per user per year (35 credits/month). Monthly billing and organization prices were not recorded. Do not divide the yearly price into a monthly rate. jetbrains.com/ai redirects to /air and had no prices.
- Kilo Pass $199 tier name. Starter is $19 and Pro is $49. A third tier at $199 (up to $278.60 of credits) had no name in the 16 Oct extract. It was not re-checked on 17 Oct.
- Bolt $25 plan name. The $25/month card’s heading was missing on 16 Oct. It is labeled Pro because Teams says “everything in Pro”. Not re-checked on 17 Oct.
- Amp Megawatt and Gigawatt. Individual is $20/month with 45,000 orb minutes. Megawatt and Gigawatt are named and not priced. Not re-checked on 17 Oct.
- Roo Code versus Roomote. roocode.com/pricing sells Roomote bands. Confirm whether the Roo Code extension still has a separate price. Not re-checked on 17 Oct.
- Qodo pack prices. The unit rate $0.012 per credit is on the page. The review packs have no printed monthly price. Not re-checked on 17 Oct.
- Antigravity quotas. antigravity.google says “available at no charge” and has no plan table. Confirm whether a Google AI subscription is required. Not re-checked on 17 Oct.
- Kiro paid credit allotments. Free is 50 credits. Paid plans do not list monthly credit counts. Extra credits are $0.04. Not re-checked on 17 Oct.
- Copilot credit wording. Marketing dollar pools and docs credit counts were reconciled at $0.01 on 16 Oct. Confirm they stay in sync. Not re-checked on 17 Oct.
- Other affiliate programmes. Only Lovable’s programme was confirmed on a vendor page. Bolt, Replit, Tabnine, CodeRabbit, Warp, and Blackbox mentions from directories were not confirmed. Leave their affiliate URLs empty.
- Vendor terms for the daily fetch. Per-vendor terms were not reviewed. The GitHub Action is in the repo and should stay unscheduled until a human checks that one daily GET of each pricing page is allowed.
- ModelPickr URL. The footer links to https://modelpickr.dev. Confirm that is the live sibling domain.
- agentpicker.dev redirect. The 301 from agentpicker.dev to agentpickr.dev is documented for Cloudflare and is not live until DNS and a redirect rule exist.
- MCP tests. GitHub, Playwright, and filesystem are seeded with tested: false. No server page is generated. Run them before any “best MCP server” claim.
- Aider licence. The homepage shows a free-to-install CLI and your own API key. The licence was not on that page, so open_source is null rather than assumed. Not re-checked on 17 Oct.
- Continue after the acquisition. continue.dev says it joined Cursor and the open-source codebase remains available. There is no current hosted price. Decide whether the tool page should stay or fold into Cursor. Not re-checked on 17 Oct.
